Conquering Snowdon

On Friday 20 June, a group of EMICS supporters took on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon, raising over £3,500 (and counting!) in support of our vital emergency medical work. They had sunshine from start to finish, the group enjoyed breathtaking views, though temperatures soared to a scorching 30°C.

Among the climbers was 4-year-old Janosch, who joined with confidence thanks to his dad’s experience as an expert mountain climber. The team set off around 9:30am and reached the base again by 6:30pm.

Along the way, the group encountered several other charity groups, including one raising funds for a burn’s charity founded by a survivor of the 2002 Bali bombing. One of our team, Roger, even used his medical expertise to tape up a fellow hiker’s ripped boot!

Beyond the climb itself, many of our hikers ran their own fundraising events. One participant even hosted a live concert to raise donations.

Thanks to these efforts, and more than 100 individual donations, our fundraising total continues to grow.

Some climbers stayed overnight nearby, while others made the long drive in one day.

Thank you to our sponsors:

  • Agentis Uniform Workwear: £500 for custom EMICS T-shirts
  • Outside (Hathersage): £75 worth of snacks
  • Pro-Seal: £500 cash donation

We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity shown by individuals and businesses alike.

Looking ahead, there’s interest in organising a family-friendly weekend in the Peak District, with more accessible walks for next year’s fundraising hike!

If you’d like to set up your own fundraiser for EMICS or support future events, please get in touch with Roger, via this form: http://emics.org.uk/contact.
