Our volunteer doctors provide high level advanced care to the local community. They support East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) with their extended skill sets. They deliver hospital emergency department interventions at the scene, whether that be roadside, in the home, children’s playgrounds, in rural terrain or in city centres. Basically, wherever they are needed – always in their spare time and always unpaid.
EMICS Doctors specialise in pre-hospital medicine (PHEM). This is a new and branch of medicine that has recently been recognised as a sub-speciality of Anaesthetics, Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, and Acute Medicine by the General Medical Council.
EMICS Paramedics have at least 5 years post-qualification experience and alongside volunteering for EMICS, often work as enhanced or advanced paramedics for the local ambulance service or the air ambulance.
