Event End Date: July 29, 2023

Hosted by The Rutland Pork Pie Appreciation Society, Saturday 29 July 2023 will see the first World Amateur Pork Pie Championships be held at The Grainstore Brewery, Oakham. This event forms part of a three-day ‘Alehouse Rocks’ celebration of beer and music.

Formed out of a mutual love of all things Pork Pie, The Rutland Pork Pie Appreciation Society meets regularly at The Grainstore Brewery, bringing together hand-raised pies made by those attending each meeting.

All championship entry fees and proceeds will be donated to EMICS.

Commenting on EMICS’s involvement in this Event, Dr Tim Gray, EMICS Chairman, said, “we are extremely fortunate to have support from Vernon Stokes, Vince Howard, John Goldsmith, The Grainstore Brewery and The Rutland Pork Pie Appreciation Society. As a non-government and non-NHS-funded charity, everything we do is achieved through the generosity of our volunteer doctors, our volunteer support team and the invaluable donations, sponsorships and charity grants.

“EMICS is delighted to be part of this magnificent event and will have our new critical care car and a few of our doctors in attendance at the event, who will be happy to talk about the work we do and also show the extent of the medical kit each of our doctors carries.”

John Goldsmith, commented, “in my previous career as a police traffic officer, I often worked alongside the volunteer doctors from EMICS. Aware of the vital work they undertake across a large section of the East Midlands, and as a keen supporter of the charity, I am delighted to support the charity in any way I can.

“We are expecting a large number of people in attendance at this event, which I hope will support EMICS further in promoting their work and getting their name out there.”
