East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS) is delighted to announce a landmark £20,000 grant from the Severn Trent Community Fund. This significant funding will be used to secure the charity’s core operational infrastructure, ensuring our volunteer Doctors and Paramedics remain fully supported to deliver advanced pre-hospital emergency medicine (PHEM) across the region.
To celebrate the partnership, the EMICS team recently visited the stunning Carsington Water dam in Derbyshire—a major landmark owned and operated by Severn Trent—to capture our specialist Fast Response Vehicle in action, symbolising the vital community infrastructure that this grant helps protect.
Funding the Infrastructure of Pre-Hospital Care
While public donations frequently fund specific pieces of medical kit, grants that support our core operational infrastructure are the true lifeblood of charity sustainability. This £20,000 investment will go directly towards strengthening our day-to-day coordination and operational readiness. By securing the essential logistical management and clinical governance support that sits behind our frontline teams, this grant ensures our volunteer Doctors are fully enabled to deploy safely and efficiently 24/7, 365 days a year.
Dr Matt Woods, Chair of Trustees at EMICS, explained the strategic value:
“Receiving this grant is a transformative moment for the charity. These funds allow us to take huge strides towards our long-term goals, ensuring that EMICS remains a sustainable, high-standard provider of pre-hospital care. By securing our core operational foundations, it empowers us to focus entirely on our mission of bringing the hospital to the roadside.”
Direct Impact on Patient Outcomes
By ensuring the heart of the charity is fully funded, the Severn Trent Community Fund is directly impacting patient care at the roadside across the East Midlands.
Roger Linnell, EMICS Operations Manager, highlighted the frontline reality:
“At the end of the day, our work is measured by the patients we reach. This funding has a direct, tangible impact on our ability to get our specialist Doctors and Paramedics to the scene of an emergency. It ensures our vehicles and infrastructure are resilient, reliable, and ready to respond when every second counts.”
